Graduate Feature: Andrew Zakhari

Andrew Zakhari is an Assistant Professor at McGill University, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. After completing residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University, Andrew pursued a two-year fellowship in advanced gynecologic surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, specializing in complex surgical care of conditions such as deeply infiltrating endometriosis and invasive placentation. Over the last 4 years, the MGSC has taught him so much about the principles of collaborating in global surgical care, the need for more “global surgical care” at home here in Canada, and has also connected him to a group of like-minded, creative, and hardworking peers in the field. Moving forward, Andrew hopes to be involved in global surgical and global health projects, specifically looking at capacity building, training and surgical education, and quality improvement.
